LESCO is seeking the services of competent, dedicated, dynamic and self-motivated and qualified professionals for following positions to work and develop the newly created department in LESCO titled as Market Implementation and Regulatory Affairs Department (MIRAD).
MIRAD as a dedicated central interface between LESCO and the competitive electricity market will undertake market operations including bilateral contracts portfolio management, short and medium-term demand forecasting, transmission planning and overseeing legal, financial and regulatory affairs within its proposed structure envisaged under Competitive Trading Bilateral Contract Market (CTBCM). These employments will be on open contract on lump sum pay package with six months’ probation period This position will mainly be responsible for Provide legal support to the LESCO in implementation and operations of the competitive electricity market including compliance with the laws, rules, regulations, codes etc., bilateral contracting process, manage the dispute resolution and representing LESCO in public hearings, legal proceedings etc.
Manager (Legal)
This position will head the section of Legal and Regulatory Affairs Section. This role will be involved in the contracting process and will look after the process from a legal perspective. One of the responsibilities of this role will be to maintain compliance with the laws, rules, regulations, and codes as per the prevailing legal framework.
Duties and Responsibilities:
His/her main role will be to:
- Provide legal support in management and administration of bilateral contract portfolio of LESCO
- Participate in the bilateral contract negotiation and signing process and watch the interest of LESCO from a legal perspective
- Perform legal vetting of the contracts before signing by the LESCO as a counterparty
- Provide legal support in managing and administration of the Market Participation Agreement with MO
- Provide legal support in managing and administration of the PPAA with SPT
- Provide legal support in dispute resolution
- Represent LESCO in public hearings, consultations, and meetings to provide legal support and advise
- Maintain compliance with the laws, rules, regulations, and codes as per prevailing legal framework
- Watch the interest of the LESCO from a legal perspective at the time of development and amendment of rules, regulations, etc. which may have an impact on the business of LESCO/Last Resort Supplier
- Lead the formation of Association LESCO and be an active part of it
- Provide legal support to LESCO in the bifurcation of wire and supplier business and acquisition of respective licenses

Qualification/experience

Experience: - Minimum 10-years of total experience in corporate, regulatory, and contract matters. Experience in the power sector will be given preference.
- Candidate having an understanding of legal and regulatory affairs associated with the power sector including laws, rules, regulations, etc., and the contractual framework for power/energy sales and purchases will be preferred.
- Knowledge of competitive electricity markets will be an added advantage.
